As always, our team was excited to celebrate World Environment Day by participating in our annual World Environment Day Tree Planting Challenge!
The location was at the Dallington Landing red zone site (Porrit Park) along the banks of the Ōtākaro-Avon River where riparian planting is being undertaken to increase biodiversity and help water quality.
After the initial date was postponed due to some crazy weather, we were extra keen to get out in the field, and our mahi translated into 637 Pūkio being put into the ground! It felt good to be able to give back to the environment through this local initiative; continuing our carbon offset mission while having a bit of fun.
The reigning champions from the Christchurch branch, Switched On Group - Enhancing People's Environments retained their title and we look forward to challenging them again!
Special shout out to Conservation Volunteers New Zealand in partnership with Christchurch City Council for organising the event and providing a delicious lunch for the hungry teams. Thanks again, we are already looking forward to next year’s event!
